Spherion Williamsport is working to fill a 8am- 4:30pm, Administrative Assistant (Admin Assistant) position in Montoursville, PA. The pay rate is $16.00 to $20.00 HOURLY. This is a Temp to Hire opportunity.
Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Assistant for a full-time, dayshift position (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM) to manage critical daily financial activities, payroll processing, tax compliance, and general office operations. In this role, you will handle everything from customer billing and vendor invoices to monthly bank reconciliations, new hire onboarding, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience and must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
What you'll do:
- Handle daily customer billing, match and enter vendor invoices, process A/P checks, and make daily bank deposits
- Collect and approve employee timecards, process payroll, and manage the timely payment and reconciliation of weekly, monthly, and annual payroll and sales taxes (including W-2s and 1099s)
- Reconcile monthly bank statements, audit open work orders/purchase orders/ and produce month-end financial statements
- Administer new hire setups, coordinate background checks and drug screenings, maintain the OSHA log, and report worker's compensation claims
- Manage incoming mail and emails, order office and shipping supplies, maintain the postage meter, and assist other office personnel as needed
Education: High School
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: 12 months
Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll administration, or a dual financial/administrative role, Strong proficiency with Sage 50 or Peachtree accounting software is highly preferred, Proven experience handling Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), bank reconciliations, and generating month-end financial statements, Direct experience processing payroll, calculating withholding, and filing quarterly/annual payroll taxes (W-2 and 1099 processing is a plus)Skills:
- Proficient in accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), general ledger tracking, and bank statement reconciliation
- Hands-on experience with Sage 50 / Peachtree or similar ERP systems.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, timecard tracking, and calculating local, state, and federal payroll taxes (including W-2s and 1099s)
- Ability to audit open work orders and purchase orders to generate accurate month-end financial statements
- Strong proficiency in Excel (for worksheets and data tracking), Word, and Outlook
