Spherion Altoona is working to fill a 1st Shift, Maintenance Mechanic position in Altoona, PA. The pay rate is $33.84 HOURLY. This position will be a DIRECT HIRE Opportunity!

Description:

Set up, operate, and maintain packaging equipment to ensure safe, efficient production and consistent product quality. Monitor machine performance, adjust settings, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a clean work environment.

What you'll do:

• Set up packaging machines with correct product codes, weights, bags, film, and seals.
• Install and replace film rolls weighing up to 85 lbs.
• Monitor product quality, package seals, cut-offs, fill levels, and printed codes.
• Adjust machine settings, scales, sensors, and programs as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate with maintenance and production teams.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety, sanitation, and quality procedures.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and company policies.
• Disassemble, clean, and reassemble extruders, mixers, and inclines as required.

Education: High School

Experience: 12 months

Six months to one year of production or machine operation experience.

Physical:

• Moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs)
• Pushing / Pulling
• Standing / Walking
• Hot Environments
• PPE Required (Noise / Chemical / Dust)

Skills:

• Strong mechanical, math, reading, computer, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail.
