Spherion Johnstown is working with a client in their search to fill a Hand Packer position in Somerset, PA. The pay rate is $18.21 to $20.21 HOURLY based on what shift you work. This is a Temp to Hire opportunity - get hired on permanently! The company is looking for someone to work on 2nd shift and 3rd shift. Training will be done on the 1st shift for about a week or two.

Description:

The Hand Packer is responsible for the accurate and safe manual counting and packing of finished product into the correct sleeves, trays and containers in preparation for sealing, palletizing and distribution of product. Hand Packers ensure products are correctly counted, meet customer specifications, comply with Food Safety regulations, and are accurately sorted, labeled and coded to meet or exceed Customer and Company expectations and all necessary regulations.

What you'll do:

• Efficiently hand pack freshly baked cones.
• Follow all Food Safety and Safety Procedures and Rules.
• Ensure continuous and smooth production through matching the pace and flow of the production line and its’ team members.
• Understand and have the ability to accurately perform different packaging configurations.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Continually monitor for cross contamination or foreign objects.
• Other assigned duties, as needed.

Education: High School

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Experience: 3 months

Physical:

• Duties may be repetitive in nature.
• Must be able to lift 20 – 30 pounds on a frequent basis, and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Position requires the ability to stand on one’s feet for up to 8 hours (with breaks), walk, use hands to handle, feel and select objects (manual dexterity), grip, frequently reach with hands and arms, bend, twist, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see, talk and hear.

Skills:

• Regular and reliable attendance required.
• Basic ability to read, write, count and identify numbers, letters, colors, characters and symbols as required.
• Prior Manufacturing / Industrial experience preferred, with high preference for food / bakery experience.
• Available to work overtime and weekends as needed.  Able to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities without losing composure.
• Able to follow all Food Safety and Safety Procedures and Rules, including wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Must be able to comprehend and communicate with all levels of the team, including management, maintenance, sanitation and co-workers.
• Able to perform duties accurately with attention to detail, follow direction and participate as a team player or individually.
• Job training for this position is provided by the PTL / Lead / Assigned Trainer.
