Cashier

Spherion Johnstown is working to fill a 1st Shift, Cashier position in Portage, PA. The pay rate is $8.00 to $10.00 HOURLY. This position is entry-level. No experience is necessary. This is a Temp to Hire opportunity.

Description:

We are looking for a friendly, reliable Cashier to join our team. As the first and last person our customers see, you will play a vital role in providing a welcoming atmosphere. Beyond handling transactions, you’ll help keep our shelves stocked and our space looking sharp

What you'll do:

• Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer questions about products, and provide a "small-town" level of care.
• Transaction Management: Process cash, credit, and mobile payments accurately using our Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Store Upkeep: Assist with stocking shelves, rotating inventory (checking expiration dates), and maintaining a clean checkout area.
• Problem Solving: Handle returns or exchanges professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.

Education: No formal education required.

Physical:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs

Skills:

• Ability to count back change and manage a till accurately

Related Experience: Previous retail or customer service experience preferred (but we’re happy to train the right personality)
